THE phrase ‘fortune favours the bold’ perfectly captures the unexpected success of Nur Irdina Amani Imran (pic), who claimed gold for the Federal Territories (FT) in the women’s fencing sabre individual event at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) yesterday.

At just 14 years old and entering the competition as an underdog, Irdina surpassed expectations by winning gold, despite initially targeting only a bronze in her second Sukma appearance.
