Frenchman Moyson turns in superb powerman show

PETALING JAYA: Frenchman Malo Moyson (pic) braved the heat to triumph in the Powerman Malaysia duathlon.

Moyson, who was competing for the first time outside Europe, clocked 2:40.45 to triumph in the male elite category ahead of Philippines’ Chicano John Leerams (2:44.00) and Pecson Maynard (2:49.17) at the 80km course at Dataran Putrajaya on Monday.

Mayson was delighted to finish first in a tough run-bike-run course.

“It was a very tough race because of the heat and the humidity,” said Moyson.

“I’m not so used to this type of conditions, so I tried to manage as best as I can.

“Overall, I really enjoyed my experience in Malaysia, as it was my first time competing here and I managed to win.”

Meanwhile, there was joy for the Philippines when Mary Joy Trupa captured the female elite title after clocking 3:13.34.

Her compatriot Stawicki Rhia Alexandra finished with the silver with a time of 3:13.35 while Singapore’s Yong Man Yun took home the bronze after clocking 3:19.16.
