SAIFUL Bahri Musmin (pic) completed his golden collection in petanque in the SEA Games after winning gold in the men’s singles.
He had captured gold in the doubles in 2017 and in the triples event in 2019 in Kuala Lumpur and Manila, the Philippines, respectively.
Yesterday, he stayed calm under pressure to beat Laos’ Bountamy Southamavong 13-9 in the final in the Petanque Olympics complex in
Phnom Penh to bag the gold.
The victory was also sweet revenge for Saiful, who had lost to Southamavong in the group stages.
Said coach Ruhaizal Abu Amin: “It was a closely fought match and I’m so happy that Saiful managed to perform well.
“It was a really good win after he lost to the same opponent in the group stages.”
It was the first gold from the petanque team in this Games.
