Swimmer Zy Kher Lee wins gold at 11th Asean Para Games

GEORGE TOWN: Penangite Zy Kher Lee made Malaysia proud once again after bagging a gold medal in the Men’s 200m individual medley SM5 at the 11th Asean Para Games Solo 2022.

The 15-year-old swimmer, who was born with a complete left arm, half a right arm, no right leg and a malformed left leg with only three toes, won the gold medal with a time of 3:42.34.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow lauded Zy’s effort on his official Facebook page.

“We are very proud of you and hope you will continue to work hard and achieve better results,” Chow wrote.

Last December, Zy won three medals at the Asian Youth Para Games 2021 in Bahrain – gold in the 200m freestyle, silver in the 50m butterfly, and bronze in the 200m individual medley.

In April, he also won a gold medal in the Para Swimming World Series Youth 200m Free finals in Berlin, Germany.
