AFTER a six-year wait, national weightlifter Mohd Aznil Bidin has finally laid his hands on a medal at the SEA Games.

The 25-year-old athlete from Kedah won the bronze in the men’s 61kg category with a total lift of 283kg at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium yesterday.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games champion was slow to warm up, failing in his first attempt in snatch at 123kg but succeeded at the same weight in his second try before going on to lift 126kg on his third attempt.

In the clean and jerk, he cleared 157kg on his first attempt but failed at 161kg in his next two tries. — Bernama
