AMERICAN pro Jason Knutzon is not fond of Malaysia’s blazing hot weather but yesterday he was all smiles.

He had spent one hour with a bunch of enthusiastic, energetic and young aspiring golfers aged between six and 15 years old during the Emirates Junior coaching clinic under the blazing sun but he came out of it pleased with their dedication.

“At their age, I would probably be building sandcastles at the bunkers,” enthused Knutzon.

Yesterday, 37-year-old Knutzon, a two-time winner on the Asian Tour, spent time with 15 juniors as he taught them the right way to swing the golf clubs, putting and even chipping out from the bunker.

The children who attended the clinic conducted by the golfer were from two golf clubs – Royal Selangor Golf Course and Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam.

“This is one way for professionals like me to give back to the community.

“It also pleases the sponsors and gives a good touch to the ongoing competition.

“For me, this is the most fun part – to see their excitement – as it brings memories of my younger days at the course.”
