China athletics body uphold ban on Sun despite court victory

BEIJING: China's top female distance runner Sun Yingjie will not escape at least a two-year ban despite winning a court case against an athlete she accused of spiking her drinks, causing her to fail a doping test, state media reported yesterday.

Sun, bronze medallist at the 2003 world championships in the 5,000m, won her case on Friday against Yu Haijiang whom she accused of setting her up, the China Daily said.
