PETALING JAYA: The Porsche Infineon Carrera Cup Asia enters its third season with the opening round on March 19 and 20 as the support race for the Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix at the Sepang F1 circuit.
A-Ha Racing return to defend their title with Briton Matthew Marsh as their driver. And the presence of British GT champion Jonathan Cocker will certainly up the ante.
Cocker emerged as the youngest-ever champion in the British GT Championships last year with 14 podium finishes in 16 races.
The 18-year-old competed in one round of the Porsche Infineon Carrera Cup Asia last year and stamped his mark with victory the event, which was the support race for the inaugural China F1 Grand Prix in Shanghai.
Cocker will be racing for a new team, Porsche Centre Qingdao of China.
Malaysian driver Rizal Ramli returns to the series with his Crest Jaseri Racing Team.
The former European F3 driver was impressive in his debut season last year.
He won the round in Macau last November and finished fourth overall.
The 11-round series returns to the circuit in Sepang in May. It will again be the support race for the China F1 Grand Prix in October before the grand final as part of the 52nd Macau GP in November.

Round 1 (March 19-20): Sepang.
Round 2 and 3 (May 14-15): Sepang.
Round 4 and 5 (June 11-12): Bira, Thailand.
Round 6 and 7 (July 16-17): Beijing Goldenport.
Round 8 and 9 (Aug 6-7): Taebaek, South Korea.
Round 10 (Oct 15-16): Shanghai.
Round 11 (Nov 19-20): Macau.
