MADRID: Brazilian striker Ronaldinho's miskicked bicycle kick and broke a glass pane in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, Spanish media reported on Tuesday.

The Barcelona player was filming an advertisement spot for a catholic festival in Spain, when his attempted bicycle kicked missed its target and flew against one of the glass panes of the cathedral, breaking it.

The director, Emil Samper, said that it had been his fault as he had told the footballer to shot as hard as possible. He added that his insurance would cover the damage.

The cathedral is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for Catholics, prompting As newspaper to joke that Ronaldinho would be declared persona non grata in Galicia after scoring twice in Barcelona's 3-2 victory against local favourites Deportivo La Coruna and now breaking a glass pane in the cathedral. – dpa
