Much-touted protest turn into farcical Masters sideshow

AUGUSTA: Martha Burk's much-anticipated protest against Augusta National Golf Club's men-only membership fizzled into a circus here on Saturday, its purpose lost among rhetoric and kooky oddballs.

About 60 protesters attended Burk's rally for admission of a woman member, a message she pitched to about 200 journalists, 120 police officers and a handful of hecklers in a grass field half a mile from the club entry gates.
