ALOR STAR: Kedah will be without their three national players for a quadrangular football tournament in Singapore, beginning on Jan 20.

The trio – Akmal Rizal Rakhli, Irwan Fadzly Idrus and A. Victor – will be with the national team who will be preparing for a friendly international against Finland at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, on Jan 26.

In the quadrangular, Kedah will play against FA Cup holders Penang (Jan 21), S-League's Woodlands Wellington (Jan 24) and Malaysia Cup champions Selangor (Jan 26).

Coach Jorgen E. Larsen said that for this season, he needed to draw up strategies without the trio in the game plan.

“It will not be the only time that we will not have their services. If the national team have an assignment, we will have to do without them because the league will not be suspended during that period,” said the Dane.

Larsen added that the trio would miss more than half of Kedah’s fixtures in the two-round league, excluding the FA Cup matches.

The season begins with the Charity Shield match between Penang and Selangor on Feb 1. The other Premier I teams go into action on Feb 15 and the FA Cup competition kicks off on Feb 19.
