Motor racing-Singapore sprint delayed due to heavy rain

SINGAPORE, Oct ⁠10 (Reuters) - The start of ‌the Singapore Grand Prix sprint race on Saturday ​was delayed ⁠due to ⁠heavy rain.

"Start delayed due to ⁠the ‌rain, there is ⁠a large amount of standing ​water ‌around turn 2 ⁠and ​3," the FIA said in a ⁠statement after the ​medical car assessed track conditions.

Red Bull's Max ⁠Verstappen took pole position for the sprint ahead of Mercedes ​driver ⁠George Russell and Ferrari's ​Charles Leclerc.
