PETALING JAYA: Young rider Hakim Danish Ramli is revved up after collecting his maiden Moto3 World Championship points at the Portuguese Grand Prix on Sunday.

The 18-year-old Hakim put his name on the championship standings after scoring four points by finishing in 12th place at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimao.

It was a commendable finish for the Terengganu-born rider after a tough qualifying session saw him start the race in 17th on the grid.

Replacing injured Japanese rider Ryusei Yamanaka for the final two rounds of the Moto3 championship for the MT Helmets - MSi Racing team, Hakim hopes to keep the momentum going in the final round at the Valencia Grand Prix this weekend.

"I really enjoyed the race, but it also made me realise that there’s still a lot I need to improve," said Hakim.

"This has been a valuable experience, and I’ll work hard to be better for Valencia."

During the qualifying session, Hakim had an incident where he skidded off the track, but he admitted that it had taught him to be cautious.

"I entered the corner too fast and went off the track. I had to change tyres and could only do one lap after that.

"But it gave me a new experience to identify where I need to work on to be in a better position," he added.
