Thai blitz leaves Malaysia with women hockey 5s silver

BANGKOK: The national’s women’s hockey 5s team had to settle for a silver medal at the Thailand SEA Games after they lost 1-7 to hosts Thailand at the Royal Thai Air Force Hockey Stadium on Wednesday (Dec 12). 

The Thai team got things rolling quickly as Thanaphon Kahmnon scored in the fourth minute. 

Malaysia responded swiftly with an equaliser from Nurfatin Dizana Mohd Zaidi, but Thailand immediately put themselves ahead again with a goal from Anongnat Piresram just seconds later. 

Thailand then made the score 4-1 before half time with two more goals from Supansa Samanso and Natthakarn Aunjai in the eighth and 10th minutes. 

The Thai team then sealed their win in the second half, with three more goals coming from Supansa (19th minute), Anongnat (22nd minute), and Jenjira Kijpakdee (27th minute) to seal their gold medal win.
