PETALING JAYA: Former national hockey player and a respected coach K. Rajan has passed away at the age of 68.

Rajan breathed his last on Monday (Nov 17) at his home in Ipoh.

The Perak-born former defender did the country proud by representing Malaysia at the 1977 Kuala Lumpur and 1979 Jakarta SEA Games.

He also enjoyed a long domestic career by turning out for Perak (1975–1980), Selangor (1981) and Kuala Lumpur (1982–1987).

Rajan later carved out a distinguished coaching career, guiding Kuala Lumpur to six Razak Cup titles between 1992 and 2002.

In 2016, he was appointed head coach of the Singapore national team, and continued contributing to the sport in later years, coaching Terengganu in 2021 and Perak in 2023.

Former national player Jiwa Mohan send his condolences to Rajan's family.

"Coach Rajan was a truly good man - kind, dedicated, and inspiring to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

"His impact will be remembered, and his legacy will continue to live on in the lives he touched," said Jiwa.
