PETALING JAYA: A slow start against Japan in the Asian Champions Trophy third-fourth playoff match cost the Malaysian women’s hockey team a podium spot as they went down 1-4 at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar, India, yesterday.

Coach Nasihin Nubli admitted that the Speedy Tigress failed to get going early in the game and that allowed the Japanese to dominate the first two quarters and run away with the win.
