PETALING JAYA: Six stitches to the back of his head didn’t stop rising hockey star Andywalfian Jeffrynus from helping Malaysia secure a World Cup berth.

The 20-year-old defender took a hard hit during Malaysia’s 5-3 loss to Pakistan in the second group match of the World Cup Qualifiers in Ismailia, Egypt, last Monday, but returned to play the remaining three matches.
