PETALING JAYA: National hockey coach Sarjit Singh knew heavy defeat was inevitable for his young Speedy Tigers and it finally arrived against world champions Germany on Sunday.

The squad, with many greenhorns playing on the international stage for the first time, faced a reality check when they suffered a 1-10 defeat to Paris Olympics-bound Germany at the Gladbach Hockey and Tennis Club in Monchengladbach.
