KUALA LUMPUR: Family ties and warm support from friends helped lift Liyana Durisic’s game as she emerged as the top local performer at the Maybank Championship with a bogey free opening round of five-under 67.

The sparkling effort helped Liyana to go into a tied sixth position alongside Thailand’s Arpichaya Yubol, Choi Hye-jin and Hwang You-min of South Korea, Australian Robyn Choi and Julie Lopez Ramirez yesterday at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC).
