Mirabel secures career-best Epson Tour finish in Connecticut

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s Mirabel Ting achieved best finish in her rookie Epson Tour season after taking the second spot in the Hartford HealthCare Women’s Championship in Connecticut, United States.

The Sarawakian golfer mounted a strong charge for the title on Monday, firing a five-under 66 to finish in solo second at 12-under 272 for the tournament.

She was just one stroke behind champion Christine Wang of the US, who claimed her maiden Epson Tour title.

After struggling in the second round with a five-over 76, Mirabel caught fire over the weekend posting back-to-back bogey-free rounds, highlighted by draining 12 birdies over the final 36 holes.

Mirabel had taken the fight to Christine before the American regained control with birdies on the 13th and 16th to seal victory.

“I feel like I was patient enough on the golf course. I drove the ball really well and putted really well,” said Mirabel.

It is her seventh top 10 finish of the season and her latest effort has catapulted her by 77 spots to No. 362 in the world rankings. Mirabel is also on track to clinch a place in the LPGA Tour if she maintains her outstanding performance over the next three months.

She is currently ranked seventh in the Race for the Card rankings for Epson Tour and the top 15 after October will get to play in the LPGA Tour next year.

Before turning professional in mid-2025, Mirabel had already established herself as one of the world’s leading amateur golfers.

The former Florida State University came in second in the amateur golf world rankings and swept the major collegiate honours during the 2024-2025 season.
