AFTER last playing in a LIV Golf tournament in 2024, Eugenio Chacarra of Spain will compete on the PGA Tour when he appears at the Puerto Rico Open this week on a sponsor’s exemption.
Chacarra, 25, signed with LIV when it launched in 2022. After the 2024 season, though, he did not qualify to return to the league and a free-agent deal to return was not reached.
The Oklahoma State alum was given a sponsor’s exemption into the Hero Indian Open on the DP World Tour last year and won the event to earn full status in Europe.
He said his ultimate goal now is to earn full status on the US PGA Tour.
“Obviously LIV didn’t exist when I was little,” Chacarra said. “I grew up watching the European Tour and the PGA Tour, and that’s what I dreamed of playing and winning, and that’s what my heart and my ambition was, so we thought it was the best for me to move forward and try to get on the PGA Tour.”
Chacarra’s only appearance on the PGA Tour was in the co-sanctioned Scottish Open.
Brooks Koepka left LIV Golf and returned to the PGA Tour this year through a newly created Returning Player Programme. He qualified for the programme as a recent major winner. Patrick Reed has also departed LIV and will return to the PGA Tour this summer.
Koepka has played in two events since returning and is entered in this week’s Cognizant Classic.

These two innovative, industry-leading gaming experiences are built to redefine global golf fandom through gamification and interactive engagement across players, teams, individual events and LIV Golf’s 14-event international season.
This is Beyond Sports’ first collaboration in golf, marking the company’s expansion into a new market.
The products are designed to create experiences that make the game more accessible to new fans through low-friction playables and inclusive gaming formats.
The collaboration speaks to LIV Golf’s ethos of creating more ways for the next era of golf fans to engage with the sport on and off the course, blending world-class competition with entertainment and culture to grow the game worldwide. This new, premium digital experience encourages fans to play, engage with more League and player content, and build deeper connections throughout the season.
In another development, Torque GC of LIV and the American Junior Golf Association announced a multi-year partnership, establishing the team as title sponsor of the Torque GC Championship.
The event will return to Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club in Florida for the second consecutive year, reinforcing a shared commitment to developing the next generation of elite golfers.
The partnership reinforces Torque GC’s commitment to creating meaningful pathways for young golfers, while focusing on the global growth of the game.
Torque GC’s roster includes AJGA alumni Joaquin Niemann, Abraham Ancer, and Carlos Ortiz, each of whom competed on the AJGA circuit before rising to the professional ranks.
The Torque GC Championship will feature 78 of the world’s top-ranked junior players competing from June 9 to 11, 2026, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.
An AJGA qualifier will be held June 8, providing additional players the opportunity to earn a place in the championship field.
