THE Maybank Championship lived up to its billing as being one of the most popular events on the LPGA Tour and delivered on its promise of refined entertainment from the world’s leading women’s players.

The third staging of the US$3mil tournament, with US$450,000mil awarded to the winner at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, was marked by its second playoff as Japan’s Miyu Yamashita birdied the first extra hole to see off the challenges of South Korean Hye-Jin Choi and Australian Hannah Green.
