THE Malaysian Golf Association is in a poor state financially, and unless the national body somehow receives the sponsorship agreed upon with IRS Prima Holding for the Malaysian Open, things will probably look bleak for some time to come.

There’s a school of thought out there that believes the money, said to be in the region of US$4.5mil (RM20.15mil) of which US$1mil a year would go to prize money for the event over a three-year period, will be received soon, with some predicting that it could come as early as this week.
