How to escape a plugged lie

Do not get flustered with a bunker shot, instead keep cool and follow a few simple steps

MOST golfers believe that you need some luck to win a tournament. Indeed, sometimes a good shot is not rewarded because it might end up in a bad lie or plugged in a bunker.

Many amateurs tend to get frustrated when they see their ball plugged in the sand and no one can blame them because it happens to professional golfers too.

But remember that keeping a cool head on the golf course is what you need to get a good score.

Practice makes perfect, so take your time to learn how to execute this shot.

1 When you hit a shot like this, make sure that your club face is slightly square and facing the target. Also, keep your weight on the left.

2 Make sure both your feet are firmly grounded. Move your feet in the motion of car wipers until your feet are firm in the sand.

3 When you hit your shot, remember to hit it deep and make a ‘splash’. Your club face should remain like how it was during the set-up.

4 Maintain a similar set-up like how you would hit a normal golf shot but your left foot should be slightly aligned with the ball.
