IT is widely taught throughout the game that you set up ‘square’ to your target – or where you want the ball to come to rest. Of course, if you hit every shot straight as an arrow, then that would make good sense.

But that is not always the case, as we all tend to hit most of our shots with some degree of shape – either left-to-right or right-to-left. As the clubface is largely responsible for the initial start line or launch direction of the ball, awareness of where the clubface points at impact is essential.
