Captain Paulo Josue, who scored twice in Harimau Malaya's 2-1 win over Myanmar in their opener on Saturday, fired the hosts ahead on the brink of half time.
Endrick dos Santos doubled Malaysia's lead with a close range finish on the 57th minute before an own goal by Viengxay Sitdavong put interim coach Tan Cheng Hoe's men three up.
Substitute Wan Kuzain Wan Ahmad Kamal then scored his first goal for the national team with a sublime free-kick in the 84th minute, sealing Malaysia's win.
Winger G. Pavithran, in only his second start for the team, was at the heart of the handsome win as he set up three of the goals.
Malaysia came into the game with an eight-game winning streak over Laos and their dominance showed with their 70% possession.
Malaysia will next face Thailand on Aug 1 in their third group match.
