PETALING JAYA: Police have withdrawn from the 2026-27 Malaysia Super League season, paving the way for A1 Semi-Pro side Kelantan the Red Warriors to take their place in the top flight.
The Malaysian Football League (MFL) confirmed receiving an official letter from Police notifying the league of the club’s decision to pull out of the upcoming campaign.
No reason was specified by MFL on why Police pulled out.
The First Instance Body (FIB), the independent body responsible for club licensing, have since taken note of the withdrawal and confirmed Police will not feature in next season’s competition.
The development came as the FIB completed their compliance assessment for clubs previously granted a National Licence with Sanction.
On May 26, the FIB had awarded conditional National Licenses to four clubs – Melaka, Star City (formerly Immigration), Kuala Lumpur, and Police – under Article 8.2 of the MFL Club Licensing Regulations.
The four were given until Wednesday (July 15) to submit additional financial information to meet the financial and infrastructure criteria.
Following a thorough review, the FIB confirmed that Melaka, Star City and Kuala Lumpur have successfully satisfied the requirements for their National Licence assessments.
The Police withdrawal, however, means their spot in the Super League will instead go to Kelantan the Red Warriors.
Earlier, MFL said Kelantan Real Warriors pulled out over financial issues.
The FIB said all decisions are based on a comprehensive evaluation of the information and documentation submitted by clubs, in line with the MFL Club Licensing Regulations for the 2025-–2026 Cycle.
