PETALING JAYA: Brazilian forward Chrigor Moraes stole the show in Vietnam as Selangor moved closer to lifting their first trophy this season after booking their spot in the Asean Club Championship Shopee Cup final.

Moraes was the hero for the Red Giants as he scored both goals in their 2-0 win over Vietnamese club Nam Dinh yesterday, giving Selangor a 4-1 aggregate win and securing a final berth.

It was Moreas who also scored both goals for Selangor in their first leg clash at the Petaling Jaya Stadium last Wednesday.

Head coach Kim Pan-gon was proud of his players, who did not give their opponents much room to launch attacks.

“This is a big win for the entire team. We have worked hard all season and deserve to be in the final,” said Pan-gon after the win.

Selangor had the chance to get ahead early in the game, but Moraes’ attempt in the 19th minute was denied by Nam Dinh goalkeeper Tran Nguyen Manh

Action was stopped in the 35th minute after the video assisted referee (VAR) checked a potential penalty for Selangor after Jordanian Mohammad Abualnadi was brought down inside the box.

With the penalty awarded, Moraes calmly stepped up to convert it and put Selangor ahead in the 40th minute.

The Brazilian, who came into the match with 40 goals across all competitions this season, made it 42 after doubling Selangor’s lead in the 90th minute, effectively sealing their spot in the final.
