PETALING JAYA: Selangor took a slender advantage into the second leg of the Shoppee Asean Club Championship semi-finals after edging Vietnamese side Nam Dinh 2-1 at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Wednesday (May 6).
Brazilian forward Chrigor Moraes was the standout performer, scoring both goals, while wingback Quentin Cheng provided the assists in an impressive attacking display.
Selangor broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Moraes clinically finished off a cross from Quentin.
However, Nam Dinh responded just before the break, with wingback Nguyen Van Vi equalising in the 45th minute after converting a pass from South African winger Percy Tau.
Moraes restored Selangor’s lead in the second half, latching onto a low-driven delivery from Quentin, controlling well before slotting past goalkeeper Caique Santos.
The 25-year-old’s brace took his tally to an impressive 40 goals in 45 matches across all competitions this season, along with 13 assists, underlining his status as the club’s standout performer.
Both teams will meet again in the return leg in Nam Dinh on May 13, where a place in the final will be at stake.
