Cops hope salary settlement will be passport to win over Immigration

PETALING JAYA: The Police football team have received a timely lift two days before their Super League match against Immigration at the Selayang Stadium on Saturday.

The club’s management have settled six months of salary arrears with the players and coaching staff.

Cops coach Eddy Gapil said that the development has significantly lifted morale in the dressing room with four matches remaining this season.

“They have paid six months’ salary owed to the players and coaches,” said Eddy.

First, we must thank our chief executive officer and manager for their efforts in resolving this matter.

“They are fulfilling their responsibilities to the team, and we know they have been working hard behind the scenes.

“It’s a big morale boost for the players and staff as we prepare for the final four league matches. Hopefully, we can finish the season strongly.

“I also hope this gives us the impetus to stay focused and perform even better.”

Police now aim to collect valuable points as they attempt to climb off the bottom of the table. They have only 10 points from 20 matches, trailing 12th-placed Melaka by four points.

Despite the renewed optimism, Eddy remains cautious, acknowledging the challenge ahead.

“It will not be easy against Immigration as they have quality import players. Based on what we have gone through in recent months, I want to stay realistic,” he said.
