April 10 (Reuters) - Former Japan international Keisuke Honda will continue his global goal-scoring quest in Singapore with the 39-year-old midfielder ‌joining FC Jurong from next season, the club announced on Friday.

Honda has represented 11 club teams during his career including AC Milan and CSKA Moscow and last played at club level for Bhutan's Paro FC in 2024.

Honda's travels have taken him ‌from Japan to Australia, Brazil, the Netherlands, Russia, Italy, Mexico, Azerbaijan and Lithuania and he has scored goals in competitions across six continents.

"I will ‌be 40-years-old this year, and I have various challenges, such as the Guinness record for scoring goals in multinational leagues, but the first thing I want to achieve at this club is to win the league," he said in a statement.

"There are about two strong opponents, so it will be a very difficult challenge, but I will definitely achieve it."

A satellite club of Japan's Albirex Niigata, the team has rebranded as FC Jurong for the 2026–27 season as part of an overhaul.

Honda earned 98 caps for Japan and scored at three consecutive World Cups from 2010 to 2018. He served ‌as head coach of Cambodia's national team from 2018 to 2023.
