Cklamovski plays down future talk, highlights Harimau Malaya progress

Peter Cklamovski
PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's national coach Peter Cklamovski has declined to speculate on his future, choosing instead to highlight the progress made with Harimau Malaya over the past 12 months.
The Australian's contract set to expire this year.

Cklamovski acknowledged that discussions surrounding a head coach’s future were inevitable but stressed that such matters remained beyond his control.

"In football, there will always be speculation about the head coach’s position. I’m used to that," he said.

"At the same time, I’ve fallen in love with this country, and I truly believe the dream of reaching the World Cup can be achieved.

"The work we've put in over the past year - the way we play, the mentality within the team, and the environment we’ve built - shows that we are moving in the right direction.

"But we have to take it step by step."

Cklamovski reiterated that the team’s progress has been evident, particularly in areas within their control.

"Over the last 12 months, we have been heading in the right direction. The way we analysed our opponents has been executed well.

"However, off-field issues have affected us. That’s a setback, a negative.

"But in any great journey, there are challenges, and we have to use them as part of our growth."
