Football: Nidzam steps down as Negri coach after poor run

PETALING JAYA: Nidzam Jamil has resigned as head coach of Negri Sembilan.

The club confirmed that they had received Nidzam’s resignation letter on Monday (Feb 23).

“Negri have received Nidzam’s resignation letter as head coach effective immediately,” the club said.

“The club would like to thank Nidzam for all the efforts and contributions he has given to the club since his arrival at the start of the season.”

In Nidzam’s absence, assistant coach K. Rajan has been put in charge of the squad as interim head coach.

“The club and coaching staff’s main focus at this moment is to restore stability as well as player morale to fight for the remainder of the season.”

Nidzam’s departure comes after the Deer suffered their fourth straight loss in the Super League against Immigration on Saturday (Feb 21), where they lost 2-1.

Negri have not won a match since beating Kelantan 2-0 in December, and were recently knocked out of the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals by Selangor with a 6-1 aggregate loss.
