Subway renews backing for Maxim youth football series in 2026

Good times: The winning team

PETALING JAYA: Youth football in Malaysia will receive another boost after Maxim Events renewed its partnership with Subway as title sponsor of the Maxim Cup and Maxim Elite Series for the 2026 season.

The collaboration will see the international restaurant brand continue supporting one of Asia’s fastest-growing grassroots football platforms, with tournaments scheduled across Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Melaka and Johor.

A total of eight tournaments planned for 2026 is expected to draw more than 1,500 teams and about 18,000 participants from around the world.

Competitions will be contested in age groups ranging from Under-6 to Under-20 for both boys and girls.

As part of the sponsorship, teams will be aided with entry fees and playing kits, an initiative aimed at making competitive football more accessible to young players from diverse backgrounds.

Maxim Events director Will Kucia said: "We are looking forward to 2026, where we will introduce a new tournament in Melaka while continuing to grow our existing events."

Said Subway Malaysia chief executive officer Kon Kin Siong: "By supporting these tournaments with meals, team kits and on-site activations, we hope to inspire young players to perform at their best while encouraging active living among families."

The Cup is expected to attract strong international participation throughout the year, with events beginning in Kuala Lumpur in May and concluding with the Elite tournaments in November and December.
