PETALING JAYA: Penang are heading into their Super League home clash with Melaka on Sunday (Jan 10) in high spirits.
The Panthers posted their first win of the new year by beating Terengganu 2-0 in Gong Badak on Jan 3.
However, Australian forward Dylan Wenzel-Halls has warned his teammates they are in for a fight against a revitalised Melaka, who recently appointed E. Elavarasan as coach, in Georgetown.
"Melaka has a new coaching staff, and their new set-up could come with tactical changes from the last time we played them.
"I expect them to come out firing. It’s vital that we manage that, limit their opportunities and ultimately, take our chances,'' said the 28-year-old Wenzel-Halls.
Penang has also strengthened its squad with the signings of Brazilian midfielder Erick Brandon, Filipino defender Kamil Jaser Amirul and winger Nur Shamie Iszuan. All three are expected to feature against the Mousedeer.
"It’s great to see new faces. Our three new signings have been training with us, so I’m hoping they feel up to speed and can help us climb the ladder. I know they’ll be eager to make a good impression," added Wenzel-Halls.
