Harimau Muda qualify for semis and will face Thailand

BANGKOK: Malaysia have qualified for the SEA Games football semi-finals after emerging as the best runners-up from the group stage.

Malaysia and Indonesia finished with the same goal difference (plus one), but Nafuzi Zain’s side advanced by virtue of having scored more goals – four compared to Indonesia’s three yesterday.

Indonesia defeated Myanmar 3–1 in their final Group C match, finishing second with three points.

However, Harimau Muda edged them out for the semi-final berth thanks to their superior goal tally.

Timor Leste also finished second in Group A with the same number of points as Malaysia, but they lost out on goal difference.

Malaysia will face Thailand in the semi-finals at the Rajamangala Stadium on Monday.
