Turtles on redemption mission after heavy first-leg blow


KUALA NERUS: Terengganu admit they face a stern challenge in the second leg of the FA Cup quarter-finals against Kuching City at the Sarawak Stadium tonight.

Head coach Badrul Afzan Razali said the heavy defeat to The Cats in the first leg on Oct 17 was certainly a harsh blow and a valuable lesson for the Turtles.

However, he said the coaching staff have identified the weaknesses and minor adjustments will be made to the main squad to be fielded.

“This time, the Turtles will travel to Sarawak on a mission to secure a win and redeem their pride after the big loss previously,” he said.

“I hope the players understand the situation and go out there fighting for the team. I also hope they do something to help us score goals.”

Badrul also expressed relief as speedy winger Akhyar Rashid has fully recovered from an ankle injury and is available to play.

He said Akhyar’s return will surely provide a motivational boost for the Turtles, who are currently still holding third place in the Super League standings.

“However, we are a bit disappointed as we will have to do without team captain Mohd Shahrul Nizam Ros Hasni, who has received two yellow cards.

“I hope the players can produce their best performance and bring home a victory to secure a place in the FA Cup semi-finals,” added Badrul. — Bernama
