PETALING JAYA: The high-flying Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) were simply unstoppable once again, handing Police a 7-0 thrashing in their Super League clash at the Selayang Stadium on Sunday (Oct 5).

The defending champions extended their perfect start to the season, recording their seventh consecutive win in dominant fashion.

Winger Arif Aiman Hanapi opened the scoring in the 28th minute, pouncing on a defensive error by Ivorian centreback Noel Agbre and coolly finished off the ball past Police goalkeeper Nur Hakeem Hamidun.

The winger doubled his tally just four minutes later after a swift counterattack led by wingback Oscar Arribas, who made a darting run down the left before delivering a low cross that Arif coolly finished.

After the break, JDT showed no mercy.

In the 54th minute, Bergson Da Silva made it 3-0 after Arif dispossessed Police midfielder Fakhrul Azim Zulphatah and provided the assist.

Azerbaijani centreback Eddy Israfilov then got in on the act in the 67th minute, showing the composure of a striker as he beat Fakhrul with a dummy before curling a superb effort from outside the box past Hakeem.

Brazilian forward Jairo Da Silva produced one of the goals of the night in the 77th minute, controlling a long pass from Arribas and unleashing a powerful strike from a tight angle that left Hakeem rooted.

Substitute Romel Morales made it six in the 82nd minute, smashing home a right-footed shot after receiving a pass from Jairo.

Jairo then completed the rout two minutes later, slotting home his second goal of the evening from another Arif Aiman assist.

With the victory, JDT remain top of the Super League with 21 points from seven matches, maintaining their perfect record.

Police, meanwhile, stay in eighth place with six points from six games.
