Three JDT players barred from domestic competitions following FIFA bans

PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JD) players Hector Hevel, Joao Figueiredo and Jon Irazabal will be barred from playing in domestic competitions.

The Malaysian Football League (MFL) confirmed they have received an official notification from the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) regarding the decision by FIFA to suspend seven heritage players for 12 months.

“Based on this FIFA decision, MFL confirms that three players from the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) club involved, namely Joao Figueiredo, Jon Irazabal and Hector Hevel, are not allowed to participate in any Malaysian League competitions throughout the suspension period,” they said in a statement issued on Monday (Sept 29)

“Further actions on this case will only be taken by MFL once the appeal decision by FAM is announced by Fifa.”

On Friday, FIFA fined FAM 350,000 Swiss francs (RM1.8mil) and imposed 12-month bans on seven players – Facundo Garces, Rodrigo Holgado, Jon Irazabal, Hector Hevel, Gabriel Palmero, Imanol Machuca and Joao Figueiredo – citing irregularities in their registration documents.
