Negri fight back to deny Immigration their first win

PETALING JAYA: Negri Sembilan fought their way back from a goal down to ensure Immigration did not walk away with three points after their Super League match ended in a 1-1 draw at the Batu Kawan Stadium yesterday.

Searching for their first win of the season, hosts Immigration were looking dangerous from the start as Venezuelan midfielder Eduardo Sosa and Colombian striker Wilmar Jordan Gil created several promising chances to put their side in the driving seat.

Their attempts finally broke through, and they struck first thanks to a brilliant pass from Sosa, which gave Gil the chance to draw first blood in the 26th minute.

Immigration had a chance to double their lead, but Elvis Kamsoba’s attempt was denied by Negri defender Luis Enrique Nsue of Equatorial Guinea.

The Deer, however, weren’t going to go down without a fight as a late charge in first-half added time saw Bosnian winger Jovan Motika equalise from a pass courtesy of teammate A. Selvan.

In the second half, Negri tried to get ahead, but saw a free-kick by Alexander Agyakwa in the 51st minute miss the target.

Negri’s young attacker Luqman Hakim, 23, made his debut for the club after coming on for Selvan in the 66th minute.

Immigration, in an effort to avoid another draw or loss, charged forward in search of a winner with Kamsoba coming close in the 74th minute.
