BERLIN (Reuters) -Borussia Dortmund cruised to a 2-0 win over 10-man hosts Heidenheim on Saturday to move into the top spot in the Bundesliga after three matches.
Heidenheim, whose coach Frank Schmidt will celebrate 18 years on their bench next week, were looking to end a losing start in the Bundesliga but it quickly turned sour with Leart Paqarada taken off with a knee injury after just seven minutes.
To make matters worse they were left with 10men in the 21st when Budu Zivzivadze was dismissedwith a straight red card for a late tackle on Felix Nmecha.
It was only a matter of time until Dortmund scored and Serhou Guirassy put them in the lead, heading in at the far post in the 33rd to score in his eighth consecutive league game.
The Guinea internationalis only the third foreign player in Bundesliga history to reach that mark.
Dortmund made sure they went into the break with a two-goal cushion after Maximilian Beier tapped in a Karim Adeyemi cutback in first-half stoppage time.
The hosts tried to come back in the second half with the visitors easing off a bit, but Dortmund, who travel to Italy on Tuesday to face Juventus in their Champions League opener, held on to their win to go top of the table on seven points.
Champions Bayern Munich, on six, are in action against Hamburg SV later on Saturday.
