JDT hold Buriram with defensive masterclass


PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Buriram United shared the spoils in their AFC Champions League last 16 first-leg match at the Chang Arena in Buriram on Tuesday (March 4).

Both sides drew 0-0, with Buriram having more than 52% possession and dominating the match.

The Southern Tigers delivered a defensive masterclass to frustrate the Thai side, with Spanish centre-back Alvaro Gonzalez making two blocks and seven clearances.

Buriram had 15 shots but could not get past JDT goalkeeper Andoni Zubiaurre.

The second leg will be held at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on March 11.
