Joehari set to replace Hamidin as FAM boss

Datuk Joehari Ayub

PETALING JAYA: The path is smooth for Datuk Joehari Ayub to become the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president.

Based on the early list issued by FAM for their election on Feb 15, current vice-president Joehari is the only name listed for the president’s post.

Barring any last minute entry, the Sabahan could be the man replacing Tan Sri Hamidin Mohd Amin as FAM’s president for the 2025-2029 term.

The deputy post could also be retained by Datuk Yusoff Mahadi and Datuk S. Sivasundram, as they are the only two names on the list.

Meanwhile, the FAM election committee will submit the names for an integrity screening process involving the Police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), as well as a bankruptcy status check with the Malaysian Insolvency Department.

They will then announce the final list of those officially qualified candidates on or after Jan 23 or by Feb 8.
