PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) Arif Aiman Hanapi and Perak's Tommy Mawat Bada are set to face action from the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for getting into a fight during the Super League match on Sunday.

FAM deputy president Datuk S. Sivasundaram issued a statement saying that they were taking the altercation between Arif and Tommy seriously.

The incident took place during the 83rd minute of the game at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.

Footage of their altercation went viral as both players squared up after a challenge, which saw both Arif and Tommy holding each other.

Their teammates tried to quell the situation but the shoving and pushing continued, which prompted Arif to punch Tommy in the face and eventually referee Razlan Joffri Ali was able to break free the scuffle.

Sivasundram, who is also the chairman of the FAM referee committee, said that the two players could still be punished by the national body even though they were only shown the yellow card by Razlan.

"We will wait for the full report from the match commissioner and referee assessor before taking any further action," he said.
