Long injury list gives Pahang coach Fandi the jitters

PETALING JAYA: Pahang are not optimistic of their chances of collecting three points due to injury concerns despite playing on home ground as the Super League action resumes today.

Pahang take on Perak at Temerloh Municipal Stadium but coach Fandi Ahmad rues the current condition of his key players.

Among the players who will not play due to injuries are Argentinian Stefano Brundo (pic), Serbian Aleksandar Cvetkovic, David Rowley and Hasnul Zaim.

Brundo’s right leg injury is the most serious as it will take at least six weeks to recover and return to first team action.

“Our preparations are not good for this weekend’s match. We have several players who are not able to play due to injuries and we have to work with what we have.

“This is the big problem we are facing at the moment but the existing players need to give high commitment to try and prevent the visiting side from taking home the points,” he said.

Pahang drew 2-2 against Kedah in their last Super League match earlier this month.

After 10 games, Pahang are lying eighth in the Super League standings with 11 points.
