PETALING JAYA: The La Liga are keen to unearth talents from Malaysia.
The Spanish League body announced a partnership with Epsom College Malaysia in Bandar Enstek, Sepang, to provide holistic education that complements football and academics.
Students will train under the league’s methodology, reflecting the training, quality and standards of the top professional football division of the Spanish football league system like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, and will enjoy competitions too.
On Aug 26, the academy will welcome players between the ages of 8 and 18 on scholarship to train under technical director and head coach Diego Gutierrez Ramos, a UEFA Pro Licensed coach with advanced degrees in Sports Science and Football Analytics and Masters in High-Performance Sport and Physical Education.
Before joining the academy, Ramos worked as a technical director, scout of Under-12 to Under-19 players and master trainer for La Liga partnerships in the United States, Nigeria, Mexico, Canada and Spain.
“The La Liga Academy Malaysia are dedicated to identifying and nurturing the brightest talents in football,” said Ramos.
“Through these scholarships, we aim to provide young players with the tools and support they need to excel both on and off the field and are excited to welcome aspiring athletes to our tryouts.”
The scholarships will not just provide financial aid but also access to top-tier coaching, a holistic British education, state-of-the-art facilities, and a nurturing environment designed to unleash each player’s full potential.
