Winger Partiban hopes to fly high with KL after inspiring flight with Canaries

PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur winger J. Partiban’s (pic) flight with the Canaries on a loan spell may have been a short one but he feels that it has given him a much needed lift.

The 31-year-old winger, who’s comfortable playing on either the left or right flanks thanks to his two strong feet, has extended his stay with the City Boys after his half-season stint with Kedah last year.

The former Terengganu and Perak ace joined Kedah during the second transfer window and was an ever present in Nafuzi Zain’s side in the Super League and Malaysia Cup.

Many thought the speedy Partiban will go on to pen a deal with Kedah due to his superb performances but he showed that his heart is still with KL.

“My time in Kedah was amazing. I must thank coach Nafuzi for giving me the chance. He has helped me regain my confidence,” he said.

“The lack of regular action with KL last year did not dampen my spirits. I showed my quality with Kedah and KL coach Kuljo (Miroslav Kuljanac) took notice and was surprised by what I could do on the pitch.

“When I had discussions with Kuala Lumpur to extend my deal, Kuljo said he sees me as an important part of the team. CEO Stanley (Bernard Samuel) also felt that I could be one of the seniors who can guide the youngsters in the team.

“It’s nice to be back with KL and I hope I can help them achieve their objectives.”
