Nothing odd about Ott’s return to Terengganu

Manuel Ott

PETALING JAYA: Terengganu have welcomed back Manuel Ott into their squad for the upcoming Super League season.

The 32-year-old Philippines international heads back to the Turtles after spending a season at Kedah with former Terengganu head coach Nafuzi Zain.

Now under Tomislav Steinbruckner, the Terengganu coach said Ott’s return will strengthen the team’s attacking quality, as he sees Ott playing as an attacking midfielder.

“I have been following Ott for two years and all I can say is I’ve wanted an attacking midfielder who not only can be a playmaker but also be a threat to goalkeepers by being able to release long-range passes and find space in the box.

“With his return to the squad, I am confident it will raise the quality in all positions for Terengganu this season,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ott said there are no issues with departing his former club and he maintains a good relationship with Kedah, having parted on mutual terms.

Ott is the sixth import player for the Turtles this season alongside Nurillo Tukhtasinov of Uzbekistan, Croatian Ivan Mamut, Nigerian Ismaheel Akinade, Argzim Redzovic from Montenegro, and Dutch player Matthew Steenvoorden.
