Morales catches the eye of Southern Tigers

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s naturalised Colombian player Romel Morales’ (pic) exploits in the Asian Cup have caught the eye of the Southern Tigers.

It is learnt that Morales, who scored a stoppage-time equaliser in the dramatic 3-3 draw with South Korea in their last group match in Qatar, is one of the three new signings of Johor Darul Ta’zim.

The 26-year-old was also a member of the Kuala Lumpur team who won the Malaysia Cup in 2021, where they beat JDT 2-0 in the final.

JDT owner and Regent of Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim posted on social media that they have acquired another three imports after the signing of former Nottingham Forest winger Nicolao Dumitru on Tuesday.

“JDT have signed three new import players. One is on loan, and the other two are until June. One local player signed and loaned to get a game. Another naturalised player in the squad,” he commented.

It’s also learnt that the local player signed is rightback Azam Azmi Murad, who has been loaned back to his state club Terengganu.

JDT also unveiled a video revealing that Argentinian playmaker Fernando Forestieri is returning to the club.

Many are also speculating that Malaysian international Dion Cools could be joining them soon.
