PETALING JAYA: National footballer Brendan Gan’s time with Selangor has come to an end.

The club announced the midfielder’s departure in a statement yesterday after spending the past four years with the Red Giants.

"Selangor sadly confirm the departure of team captain, Brendan Gan after four seasons together. The midfielder will not be part of the Red Giants’ team for the 2024 season.

"There is no doubt that his presence alone has had a positive impact on the team. His professionalism in carrying out his responsibilities as a player on and off the field has also become an example to the young players here.

"However, every beginning has an end.

"Selangor would like to express their highest appreciation to Brendan Gan for his leadership in guiding the team and all his hard work in displaying excellent performances every time he wore the Red Giants jersey.

"We would like to wish Brendan the best of luck in his future plans. Hope we meet again.”

Brendan, who played for Harimau Malaya at the recent Asian Cup in Qatar, has made 80 appearances for Selangor and scored 14 goals along with 12 assists during his time there.

Last season's Super League top scorer Ayron Del Valle and four others - Jordanian Yazan Al-Arab, Zahril Zabri; and Ghanaians Richmond Boakye and Rauf Salifu - are also leaving the team.
